During the fall of my junior year of college, signs were being posted about power dining. This event was being held by the career center and was to fully prepare us for eating a meal with a potential employer and would teach us the proper etiquette for dining with a group.
Mildly interested, I suggested it to my friends and thought we could all go together. We decided to go and made plans. A few days later, we were all in our suite, getting ready. Mario, Hess, Phil, Adam, and I put on our best "career" clothes and headed out the door. We walked to the cafeteria and went into the meeting rooms beside it. We signed in and sat down. We were assigned about 5 students to 1 or 2 teachers, and so we relaxed and made ourselves comfortable. A few minutes later, the talk began.
The instructor proceeded to tell us what and what not to order while out to lunch or dinner. They encouraged us to get simple meals and things that were easy and not messy to eat. To prove their point, they passed around French onion soup, my personal favorite but not a polite thing to eat. As we all tried our hardest to eat the stringy cheese without getting it all over our faces, Hess talked to us about cruise manners. He had been on several with his family and was well informed about being polite at the table. He showed us what forks and spoons to use and we all felt pretty confident. Unfortunately, cruise manners or Hess' wisdom couldn't prepare us for what was coming...
We finished the soup as well as we could, and moved onto a salad with little slippery tomatoes and olives - with pits. Everyone was struggling with eating their salad when they passed around the main course - chicken kiev. For anyone who doesn't know what this is, it's a chicken breast filled with a tasty (but extremely messy) butter sauce. We were elated that the school catered such a good dinner, and proceeded to dig in. The room was completely silent as we all politely cut into our chicken pieces. One of us got a very full one and it made a very loud farting noise. The four of us stared at each other and we psychologically shrank from prim and proper college students to snickering kindergartners. The snickering grew to full on laughter as the other people at our table stared at us with confusion. We must have been the only ones that heard it! We immediately tried to stop giggling because we didn't want to create a scene, but couldn't. We'd all get quiet and then one of us would get a sideways glance from the other and we'd start snickering again. Tears ran down our faces as we tried to eat our meals and keep the giggles in. Dessert and closing remarks were given and the meal was finally over. We grabbed our coats, ran out the door, and let out what felt like a century of held in laughter.
We should have been ashamed of ourselves. We had embarrassed each other, disrespected the speaker, and probably learned very little about power dining. We were silent for a moment. Then we all took a look at each other and burst into laughter again. We may not have taken away much from the course. We may have been set up for all we know. But we did have one thing - another memory to add to the archive of a very good set of friends.

Once you are tagged write an entry about 6 weird habits/things as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next six people to be tagged and list their names.

Okay...here goes:

1. I am a compulsive picker. Pimples, scabs, sunburn peeling, if it's there, I pick. It also doesn't matter if it's on me or close friends or family - it's all game.
2. I check my alarm clock at school 129421852852 times before I go to bed. Leading me to the next one...
3. I am terrified of being late. I may seem like a casual, not-really-giving-a-damn person, but I do. I am always on time. Or early.
4. I am lactose intolerant - of course, it doesn't usually stop me from eating my favorite dairy foods like ice cream and cheese. Unfortunately, because I am a moron and keep eating these things, as well as the fact that I hate swallowing pills, I almost always have a stomachache from it.
5. I am not afraid of needles. However, everytime I get a shot or novacaine or something involving needles, no matter how big or small, I will pass out if I don't lay down afterwards. This could be a problem if I get a tattoo...
6. I cannot give blood. One, I faint. Two, I had a false positive for something the first time I donated so I never can again. Bummer.

And one more for a bonus...

7. I will not take pills, medication, or anything of that sort unless I am practically DYING. I hate hate hate taking pills. I will tough out killer cramps, mega migraines, and terrible toothaches before I swallow any pills. Why? Most pain relievers make my stomach sick, and I just don't like taking medicine.

I tag Hannah, Adam, Jane, Alice, Ryan, and Nikki!

P.S - I miss my sweetie :(

SCENARIO: Diane and I are walking to the rat lab.

Diane: Ahh, that smell. That's how I first found the lab.
Me: I wonder if there's anyone in there now. Good. The door's unlocked...
Diane: Hmmm...smells worse than usual.
Me: *points to the puddle of rat urine taking over the floor* that could be why.

The joys of being a psych major...

More later. Lunch soon.

My title says it all: it's been way too long since I've updated.
Well, I will try my best to catch you all up.
It's currently Spring Break for us Susquehannians, and will continue to be until the 14th. Then it's 7 long weeks of academic hell until summer. At least it should be warming up soon. I get to add a class to my menagerie this semester: career planning. Poor Adam gains two classes.
School in general is okay, I'm not doing particuarly good or bad in any class. I'm tired of writing papers, and I have several more long ones yet to do. Voice lessons are really great, but I have my jury in 6 short weeks. Yikes!
My friends are doing well, I've finally settled down into a routine so I can be with them and get all of my work done. Phil is back at school already for intercollegiate band, and the rest of us go back on Sunday. They're a great group of people.
Adma and I are fine, we just quasi-celebrated our 18-month anniversary. He's coming up tommorow, I'm very excited. When you've been together this long, any time apart is hard. Summer vacation will once again prove to be a test for us, but I'm sure we will get through it. We're attempting to go on vacation together this summer, and we've already started planning a senior trip. I love being with such a great guy - someone who's always there for me and brings out the best in me. I always have a ton of fun with him.
Anyway, on with the entry.
Plans for this weekend:
Friday: hang out. chill. (i.e- sit on our lazy butts and watch movies/play video games/nap all day)
Saturday: head out on some random adventure involving eating and shopping (which is always fun)
Sunday: sleep late, then pack up our stuff and head back to Susquehanna
Other things that have happened:
I am addicted to Facebook.
I am administrator of German Roots, a group for people with German ancestry.
I got a mouse.
I spent some time with my lovely friends Jane and Hannah.
I have been a lazybum/workaholic hybrid these past couple of weeks and I'm glad to be on break!
And now, to enjoy my break some more *chats up friends on AIM*

That's all for now.
